Ka-Bar Little Finn - any carbon steel substitutes?

Well I just bought a western Boy Scout sheath knife in the bay.
I hope it gets here soon.

I borrowed the pics from the e-bay auction.

This here looks to me like a flat grind - oh and carbon steel too.

I'll let you know once it gets here.

Thanks again to all of you. This is a great community.

Is there a model number stamped anywhere?
Does it say WESTERN BOULDER, CO??
Just curious
You made a good choice with Western :thumbup:
It looks like an L28??

I believe the Boy Scout symbol suffices as the model number. Mine is identical, 40 years old and has no number. If it has the orginal sheath, be careful of the snap closure. If left unsnapped, the knife will fall out if you are moving a lot. The snap can be opened sometimes by brush. Once snapped, I keep the snap pushed to one side and it doesn't get popped open.

Thanks for your responses, sorry I couldn't answer earlier, but I was gone for a few days, and had no power and no Internet.

I believe it looks like a L48 with a flat ground carbon steel blade. The seller said it is 7.5" long.

I'll post better pics once it gets here.

@brownshoe
your right, the same thing happened with the new ka-bar, I was working in the woods, to afford my 'knife insanity' and the snap brushed on a branch or something, and once I needed the knife, I had to go look for it.

However I will make my own sheath to go with the knife.

@puukkoman
thanks,
I have to be careful that they ship worldwide though, I live in Germany.

If you ever need help with that, let me know. I would be more than willing to have it shipped to me and reshipping it to Germany!

Well here it is, As I said, the pictures of my little Western Boyscout knife.
It's about 7 3/4 long. I'm very pleased with the quality.
I will post more pictures in Mr. Levine's Knife Collecting & Identification subforum, to find out about the age. It seams to have some kind of blued finish.

Again thanks to y'all for your help.

Peter, that blued finish looks like a very nice old patina. Maybe took the original owner years to build up.

A very nice little knife. Looking at it brings back many memories. Thanks for posting the photo's.:thumbup:

I just bought an older KaBar about that size, but with a different blade shape, almost like a skinner. Carbon steel, leather handle, leather sheath, gets very sharp, $9.00.
Light, handy, looks great, does everything.
I bought it to re-sell, but I have been carrying it around with me for days and may just keep it.

Also have a '70's Edge Brand stag handle hunter coming - another good knife around ten bucks.

ebay. Search "Fixed blade knife", find a thousand or so....
