  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

KA-BAR Photo Thread - Post Your Ka-Bar Knife Pictures Here

I love the hard shell sheath that comes with the 1211/5011 knives. But I like to carry my Dogshead 1317. The leather sheath is nice but not that practical for my needs of constant in and out use. I modified a 5011s sheath to lock in the 1317 knife. The 1211 has a upper and lower guard that is slightly bent to the rear and that engages two plastic nubs on the sheath for retention. The 1317 has a small guard on top and a longer straight guard on the bottom. All I did was heat up the plastic around the nub and brought it closer until it locked and unlocked to my liking. BEFORE.

Been eyeing these for awhile so I finally ordered one. A lot heftier then I was expecting. I have never edc’d a fixed blade. I might try it with this.

Is that compass removable from the kydex?

I would think that if the compass were left in the kydex, the compass would be useless due to the magnetic influence of the steel of either blade in proximity and/or the steel rivet/screw holding the compass holder to the sheath.
