KA-BAR/ Snody knife

It's the one in post #13.
Kabar makes the extreme knives in D2=BK24.
Kabar makes Snoddy in S35VN=?

There is a number and a alphanumeric on the ring - 5103 and S35VN - IF the S35VN is the steel type, I would guess that the 5103 is the Kabar model number.

Oh that snakecharmer........

I thought you were looking at a real necker like a BK11, but your looking at that ghetto fabulous bling sling. :D

Really like the looks of the black handled knife in the bottom right hand corner. Anyone know what it is?

Good looking sheaths, nice blades and awfull, awfull handles. Blue and purple zytel to leather sheaths? C'mon...

The blade shapes look like good bush craft blades but the handles are a swap right off the bat. The handles could have used ethans touch!

Agreed. Wood or micarta would make them worth the metal. On the plus side of the Snody's though.....at least there isn't any gold inlay which read "gangsta" "playa" or "pimp"

If the production bosses only came in those colors I would still probably grab a blue one. Would be awesome to see one in black or black with toxic etc. worst case scenario it wouldn't be hard to remove the scales and do a wrap anyway. Still curious on the price point and steel.

ETA: if the snake charmer is in s35vn here is hoping the bosses will be available in that as well. I also really like that black handled knife in the bottom pic but can't tell what it is from angle really. Looks good from what I can see though.

+1 on whats the MSRP, and blade steel and add blade thickness?

I not a follower of the ZK knives, but looking at this picture, I noticed that the ZK fixed blades had US flags engraved on them. I memory was saying that all the ZKs were "International", e.g., Taiwan. So I went to the Kabar website and ALL of the fixed blade ZKs are listed as Made in USA now using 1095, not the SK5 mystery steel they used to be made with.

So, when did this happen? Have I really been that asleep at the keyboard, or did it never get publicized for some reason.

it's been a long while. long long long while.

nobody seems to have had a complaint about SK5 yet. no worries there.

Any sense on the overall length and blade length on the two in the middle?

My custom boss is 6.5" OAL, 3.3" blade length. My custom big boss is put away right now, I'll have to measure for you later.

I wonder if these production bosses will be chisel ground? Anybody know?

Mike had a prototype big boss posted on Facebook- it was double ground.

I'll be interesting what the pricepoint will be on these... Mike always sold the bosses for $99. That's going to be hard to beat for an american made, S35V blade.

If I remember correctly, SK5 is a Japanese steel that is equivalent to our 1085. I have a Japanese made SOG in SK5, it takes and holds a good edge. I've seen customs on here made from 1085 that are awesome! Never heard any complaints from owners/users of said customer as far as edge holding.

Those Snody knives are slick! I really like the blade shapes. And that little 3 fingered necker is cool.
