I boght this knife on ebay because it looked really cool, its A Ka-Bat special edition XXI, tanto partial serrated blade, about 3-3.5 inches long, its handle has a partial carbon fiber piece, liner lock, and its a flipper. But its doesn;t say what kind of steel it is, and i cant find anything on the net about it, but i came in the Kabar box, made in china, any info ot there in knife land?

No idea, but I see it has several of the qualities that I seriously avoid in a knife and that no steel, however magical, can make up for.

Here's what I don't like, but hey, If it floats your boat...

KaBar produces a limited/special edition serrated tanto made in China out of mystery steel? I'd love to see a picture. And would love to hear about how much you paid.

Something doesn't sound right at all. "Counterfeit" wants to pop into my head. Hope I'm wrong.

All I know is that it's not on their website, and I even looked under new releases. There's a slight chance I missed it somewhere.

I can't find anything either. Like I said though....hope I'm enitirely wrong.

Yeah, post up some pics if you can. That doesn't sound like a Kabar Knife that I know of.

Thanks.

I paid 15 bucks for the knife...it comes up on ebay from tiem to time..the box looks offical and it came with some paperwork in the box..but i have to admit i have mixed feelings if its real or what..ill try and get some pictures up...i am not normally a fan of partial serrated knives or tanto blades..but its going to be my leave in the car knife...15 doallar beater...

15 dollar chinese made special edition Kabar tanto.

Yeah, the easy money says that's a worthless knockoff made from some god-awful chinese pot metal. At least you didn't pay a crazy amount of money for it.

Glad to hear that. 15 buck car knife that you think looks really cool? You can't beat that.

I have a KA-BAR Limited Edition XIV. I believe that it is also referred to as the K2. It has a spear point combo edge and on one side of the blade it says 2814 China. it has steel liners and g10-like scales, could be a hard plastic. A friend of mine bought it for me at one of the sporting goods stores locally. You can see a review if i recally correctly from wealljuggleknives on youtube by sensei israel. his reviewed knife looks like mine. Despite the cheap steel ( who knows what it is ) I consider this a good knife built fairly well. I use it when I go running, as I find that if it got lost it would be easily replaced, and I have taken it to the local amusement park for the same reason. I don't want to lose a folder I paid $150 for. But it is sharp and can stab and I would reccommend this knife for the purposes outlined. I took my dremel tool to it to smooth out the oval spyderco type hole for opening, and also beveled the liner lock opening round so as it would not abrade my thumb in closing it. But a pretty well made knife and just like my oakley sunglasses collection, I also have some walmart shades lying around. Its nice to have choices. Enjoy your knife and ignore the haters.
