I was throwing my Ka-Bar and couple of times hit it on a pommel. The pommel now is a bit crooked. I want to re-do the handle using the birch bark, so it will look somewhat like this:

How do I remove a pinned pommel? How do I remove handle material? Any help is much appreciated..

Stokka.

Stacked leather or composite handle? If it's stacked leather, I took one apart years ago by drilling out the pin, pulling off the pommel, and the stacked leather came off pretty easily. If it's a composite handle, I'm not too sure how easily it will come off.

If it is pinned, all you need to do is locate the pin and drive it out with a nail set, or a punch.

i think on kabars that the pin is one ended so you may have to mill out the pin
other then that you may be better off making a new butcap and just cutting the old off

Yes, it is half way. I would not want to shorten the handle as it fits my hand just right. Guess I will drill it.

i did my kabar warthog, just drill out the pin, pry off the end cap and pull off the rubber handle, took about 5 minutes.
