Ok Ive got a pretty good selection of knives thx to you guys, Ive doubled my knives since Ive been on BF, and know tons more about steels, edges, tangs, etc. So this knife is not the be-all end-all knife, but the more that I look at the leather stacked handled Ka-Bar with the 7inch tanto.....Hmmmmm, that's starting to really grow on me and its looking pretty badasssss. If anyone has this knife, won't you chime in and tell me your thoughts, and if you don't have the knife, then i would still like to hear your opinions. That tanto still retains a lot of steel clear up to the point, I could imagine a soldier diggin that into a recalcitrant Tango and gettin the job done.........Ha! go meet your ugly virgins now, loser, just so you know, theyre all fat and pimply.

Welcome!! I do have one question... whats a "recalcitrant Tango"?

Obviously he's referring to stabbing anyone who follows the Islamic faith and believes they will be gifted with virgins in heaven... which few Muslims actually believe.

My guess...

Recalcitrant = something like disrespectful of authority mixed with reluctance

tango = obviously a latin dance

Resulting meaning of the phrase "recalcitrant tango" is obviously then either a remarkable hard to learn dance, or a dance partner with an aversion to said dance... ;).

Sadly though, I have no experience with that knife, but it sure looks cool.

IMHO, the Ontario Knife Co's Ranger RD Tanto is a MUCH more Heavy Duty knife for a reasonable price. It can be had for around $100 or $130 w/kydex sheath. It is full width, full tang & 1/4" thick 5160 high carbon steel. I am NOT bashing Ka-Bar at all, simply giving you a VERY HD option. It may be 2x the price, but what is it worth not to have it break when you need it most ?

Huh, I agree with fighting our enemies, I agree with protecting and defending our country... obviously... but I don't believe in hate. I don't serve my country out of hate for the enemy, I serve out of love for my country and the people that make her up. We are not made to hate. Hopefully thats not what he meant.

Aside from that, back on course, tantos are made for stabbing, so if you would like this nice for protection, then sounds good, but if you need it for utility, you could find a better fit. However, I know alot of times I buy for the looks and not necessarily the intended function.

"Tango" has been short for "Terrorist" for quite a few years now, surprised you hadn't heard it, since it was coined by the soldiers over there.
BRL- yes, most muslims dont believe the 72 virgins, but it is the ones who do believe it that we are fighting, but I know that you never pass up a chance to comment.

Sorry, never heard of it. I've always been told insurgent or enemy. And for the hate reference, I wasn't saying you did, just your last sentenced seemed a little harsh.

No sweat, welcome!

also, personal attacks against anyone, especially Beckerheads might not be the best idea in the Becker subforum. Best idea is brush things off and keep strollin.

In all honesty tango is the term for target not terrorist which is a common misconception and was coined after tango was adopted by the military alphabet for the letter T in 1957. But that neither here nor there. Let's talk about knives not history....

As far as ur Kabar goes they r pretty sweet looking. I don't have a use for a tanto blade but hey that's me. Do you plan on using/ carrying it? Or for show? If for show id recommend getting the Kabar catalog and checking out some of the cool fighter displays they have. Welcome again

Somebody has been playing a little too much Call of Duty. Sorry man but you sure set the tone for yourself there. 16 year old mall ninja that thinks he knows military jargon cuz he sees it in videogames. You have no idea what tango means, o where it originated, and coming back at a respected Beckerhead and serving Soldier with your reply seems pretty...stupid. Asking about opinions and experience with a knife is fine... Ending it off by referencing your thoughts on killing Muslims in a graphic and demeaning way is pretty damn ignorant. Flame away, I call em like I see em, and I'm sure there's more than a few people that got the same feeling from reading your post.

That being said, maybe you didn't intend it the way it came across, perhaps editing your post would be wise if you want legit opinions and responses.

First things first - Both Jarod and BRL are respected members here and their comments are welcome, after all this is an open forum. That being said, your comments are welcome also, as long as they are not personal attacks.

Tango, Terrorist, Tanto.... They are all forign terms to me. Tango is a dance, Terrorist(s) are just that, and Tanto or Tonto was the Lone Ranger's side kick. :D :D

Cool off a little, let this thread die and watch the personal attacks.

Real quick, I just want to say, the insurgents we are fighting do not fight for virgins, they have been fighting so long they only fight to kill Americans. We are their satan and their new generation was raised to despise us. They only feel hate for us and that is their only feeling. The fight for Allah, they fight for Islam or for their skewed view of Islam. The Iraqi men I work with and talk to daily wish the taliban would disappear. A devout Muslim doesn't agree with jihadists. I just wanted to make that clear from my POV.

Well, Allllllllllllllrighty then. Lets talk knives. Tanto point blades, most seem to either like em or hate em. There does not seem to be much inbetween. I have an EDC tanto folder. I love it. I use it for all kinds of stuff. I have found no disadvantage. I like the fact that the blade is a little stronger than most. What say you Kickplate69 (the OP) ?

I don't much like the triangular tantos. As far as the rest of the blade is concerned, I'm sure it's a stout piece.

This is the tanto I carry.

That's not patina on the edge. It's a reflection.

Hey, first off, sorry if I didn't help the thread with my first comment... So much for my attempt at humor... :(. I meant no offense.

Anyway, I've always heard really good things about the KA-BAR USMC (just the standard 7 incher). Its a great fighting knife, has classic looks, and is proven for pretty much everything that you would ever need to do with a knife. The only "bad" things that I have heard about them, is that they are not as ruggedly constructed as some other knives (Stick tang vs full tang). The main thing I've heard is that they might break on you if you do lots of battoning (where the blade meets the handle), and that the tip can break because it is semi slender.

The tanto version should eliminate that last "problem" with its beefy tip, and since its technically a fighting knife, it probably isn't going to see much batoning anyway. it should be a great knife.

Personally, I don't have a use for a tanto, but they do look cool, and do have a purpose.

Not to turn this into a political thread but just need to add that I deeply respect your comment here, it shows your character & integrity in not generalizing. And what better to come from a man on the frontline. I myself come from a very culturally diverse background(not Muslim). Cultural prejudice stems from ignorance & generalization by attaching stigmas to humans. You have first hand experience of what occurs in modern warfare & the population of the world needs to be educated on the untruths told my sensationalized media.

A recalcitrant tango is a bar drink made with vodka, absinthe, cherry and pineapple juice, and a mango garnish. It's a little bit feminine if you ask me, but it packs a wallop.
