Ka-Bar Tanto.....

I guess I should be the one to say, " so much for my attempt at humor". Geez guys. Show me where I personally attacked anyone in any of my comments here, but haze240 calls me a 16 year old mall ninja that plays video games, and I don't know anything about where Tango came from. I would say that is a personal attack. Well, in my 3 gun match club we have on many occasions had special forces soldiers competeing in the matches who have told me that tango means terrorist... maybe they were mistaken and should learn from Haze. Keep in mind that both definitions could be correct, like I hear people use "magazine" and "clip" interchangeably, but there is a real difference. I got called out for coming at " respected beckerheads "- well what did I say that was so offensive? Read my original words and not other poster's interpretations, and you'll see Im not crapping on anyone. Im fully aware that some of you are super sensitive to muslim bashing, I get it, most are not planning our demise. But, I ask you, who exactly are we fighting then? Clue: its not Christians. Back to the Blade: I know that a tanto is not a utility knife, or one used for batonning. I know there are blades with tanto points that are tougher than the Kabar. I merely think that the knife, on its own merits, looks cool. I do not plan to use it for bushcraft or even self defense, just get it for the collection. I'm also not interested in stabbing anyone, recalcitrant or not. And as for describing violent acts with a knife in a scenario of self defense, well, self defense in a life or death situation brought about by an aggressor, is not rainbows and unicorns, it's ugly and harsh. And I for one have spent a lot of time and effort training myself for something that I hope never happens.

I agree, the tanto point does tend to lend itself to a more combat oriented knife. The point was developed long ago, in Japan, to defeat the tough leather and plate armor the soldiers and samurai used. Its a piecer, but with a slight curve upward in the blade, it will slice quite well.

As far as Tango, tactical, mall ninja's, or disrespecting Beckerheads, etc. blah, blah, blah, its done. We'll have no more name calling and food flinging in this thread, OK, fellas?

I don't think that anything was meant in regards to all parties involved, just keep it on an even keel, and we'll be just fine.

And for the record, there is no such thing as a respected Beckerhead. We are all the same here fellas, knife lovers, please keep it that way.

ETA I moved this to the new Kabar forum, mostly, because its about Kabars. YAR!!!

Real quick, I just want to say, the insurgents we are fighting do not fight for virgins, they have been fighting so long they only fight to kill Americans. We are their satan and their new generation was raised to despise us. They only feel hate for us and that is their only feeling. The fight for Allah, they fight for Islam or for their skewed view of Islam. The Iraqi men I work with and talk to daily wish the taliban would disappear. A devout Muslim doesn't agree with jihadists. I just wanted to make that clear from my POV.

Quoted for truth, thank you brother.

I own a SOG Tsunami (Tanto Blade) and have used it as a field knife before. The tip isn't great for field work, but it does okay. Would love to get a Kabar Tanto to go with my SOG. Along with being a good tactical knife, I think a Tanto would be great around the yard as a yard/Garden knife. You could scrape paint with it, dig in the dirt and still have the main edge for cutting. :)
