Ka Bar vs 119 Buck Special

A silly half wit lite colonel and a but kissing possibly transitioning command sergeant major, the army has changed a lot, apparently! No more shock and awe.
It’s like every major event in NYC has police looking scarily undertrained carrying their m4 rifles and nobody seems to notice, yet law abiding citizens can’t carry a locking folder!

Yes, misinformation like S30V is a knife steel that keeps its apex straight slicing carboard, once

I'm not sure many of us here are prepared to pass judgement on the attributes of a given steel based on what Gerber of all companies did with it. The aren't exactly known for the quality that they once were were these days. However, if one had a personal agenda, for whatever misguided reason, against an entire classification of steels and was intentionally looking for poor results then Gerber would probably be a top choice.

And the KABAR is still the cutting edge of all purpose military knives.

There's a big difference between being the cutting edge and being the standard by which many people judge other contenders in a given category. The fact is, it's quite rare that something gets to be the standard by which others are judged by being total crap at its job. The standard may not be the best, but it's a proven performer and generally a safe bet for its purpose.

What else have I learned today?

Hopefully you learned to back up wild claims with facts and/or well reasoned arguments instead of pseudo-science gibberish and "Just believe me. I'm the expert and everything 99.99% of you have experienced when it comes to knives, whether you're a relative newcomer or longtime master knifemaker, is wrong... though I won't provide any credible evidence to support my claims and I'll flee the scene when asked to do so".
