Ka-Bar vs. SP1 Marine Combat

Which is a better knife, the Ka-Bar or the SP1 Marine Combat made by Ontario? Is the SP1 really the standard issue for the Marine's? I always thought that the Ka-Bar still is.

In my opinion the kabar is a better knife, I dont know what knives marines are issued now, but they dont issue kabars anymore, because of the cost.

Ka-Bar. It has stronger construction, looks better, and you can hammer with it.

If I were you I would definately get the Ka-Bar. I like it a lot better and doesn't really cost much.

Thanks. I have another question. Can the Ka-bar be thrown at all? Is it an easy knife to throw?

Any knife that has a point can be thrown. However, the Ka-Bar is not balanced for throwing, and will not work well. Also, the tang is not strong enough to endure repeated impacts resulting from bad throws.
