i just baught a new kabar today, a 1237, from a local army supply store that i buy most of my fighting knives from. i used it today for work instead of one of my usual kabar fighters, before work it would shave the hair off of my arm. i opened up and cut boxes all day long and its still as sharp as it was in the morning, im impressed.
can any one tell me any thing about the kabar 1237 like what year its from and other detials that might be intresting like what kind of metal its made from.
its nice to work with but i think im going to go back to my old kabar fighter because its got a thicker blade and for my kind of work i need something that can open crates of antifreeze and cut threw ducting, wires, hoses, and what ever else i have to cut it with.
on a intresting note a tire trucks bed caught on fire at the dealership that i work with yesterday, i was with several other guys but the truck driver wan panicing and the other guys were laughing saying "uh haha your trucks on fire" luckly it wasent to big when i got to it. using a classic kabar fighter i cut (scooped) the molten part of the bed liner out of the truck and threw the flaiming plastic on the ground before the fire could reach the tires the rest i stomped out. i dont have any hair on my arms and my shoes and work pants are ruined but i saved the truck. alittle later the tire companys owner stoped by to thank me. after the fire department removed all the tires the only thing that was damaged was the paint and bed liner. the fire chief said that given another minute or two the truck and its tires would have been a total loss.
