I recently picked up a used BK2 which will need some work. The coating that comes on the blade had already been removed and he gave it a horrible patina. To clean this up, I'm assuming I would only need some sand paper to remove it back to bare metal. I was wondering if anyone had some advice or tips on doing this. I also want to apply a new protective coating beneath the handles so I don't have to worry about moisture being trapped under there. Do you have any recommendations on what to use? Thanks for any advice!

I have used Mother Mag Polish and also Flitz metal polish to remove unwanted patinas from blades. I usually just wipe down afterward with mineral oil or Ballistol. I would avoid the sandpaper!
