Howdy folks-

I was at Sportsman's Warehouse (my home away from home) and had a chance to fondle the KaBar Camp knife. While I've never been a big fan of the guard on the KaBars, I really liked the kryton handle and the balance of the blade. It seemed like being just enough without having to haul a short sword around.

I used the search function here, but couldn't really find a review of one.

So does anyone here have one? How have you liked it? What have you found to be its strong points / weaknesses?

I've got the USMC KaBar and feel like the quality is pretty high, so I don't feel like that in particular is a worry.

Secondly, I've never batoned with a recurve before. If I got a bigger fixed blade, it would be to largely supplant my Fiskars hatchet (no small feat to pry from my hands), so I need to know it would handle some firewood gathering.

Thanks for any help-

Spooky

Not that it's probably much help, but I've done a ton of batonning with my Becker Machax, It's recurved and it works just fine, in fact, I think that the recurve could actually help because depending on which part of the blade you use, it would actually be slicing?

I've looked at that KaBar before and it does look interesting. (I've got to get off this forum before I go bankrupt :( )

Brother, you aint kiddin'. This forum has cost me more money than the sum of all my lady friends (Ok, maybe not quite that much). I might get this, then I need an F1, and about 6 Beckers when they start up again, and a puukko and....

Thanks for the help! Glad you haven't had a problem with the recurves. The KaBar bowies are about $20 less than these things, which is a considerable difference.

I owned a Camp Knife and I like it a lot but I knida keep it as a back up knife since I own too many blade...:) but it's a great all around knife!!!

Yeah, hahah, I was joking in my social problems class how having a knife fetish can be a problem. :D

I have one and I really like it. I have done a lot of chopping of small branches and bark with it. It retains a good edge and I can touch it up with the belt sander when needed. A small file does work too.
