I'm perplexed by that choil. Much bigger than necessary for a sharpening choil but too small for a finger choil. If you're going to lose edge to a choil or ricasso, keep it small as possible or max it out for me to loop my index finger over the guard. Just weird.

It's like they compromised between a useful finger choil and a minimal sharpening choil .

Inspired by Peltomen ranger knife? Other than that I can’t see the puukko..

I do like the clean looks though. Also reminds me of Williams tanto designs.

Agreed! The sharpening choil size is determined by the radius that is left between the blade grind and the ricasso. It looks like they made it about twice as big as it has to be to prevent the transition radius from becoming edge...
