thanks for the opportunity.
My girlfriend and i started fishing together a few years back in New Hampshire as an outdoors activity we could do together, and maybe put some food on the table while we're at it. She is a sushi and fish fanatic so I wanted her to try some North American delicacies. Fishing the CT river from the NH and VT banks and from a boat, we spent the whole summer trying for smallmouth and trout, just basic spinning reel stuff. We'd go out with just our poles, some worms, a pocketful of hooks, and a cooler. I landed some smaller specimens here and there, nothing to write home about, but for me it was about the fun of fishing with ehr and hiking the 1.5mi or so to our favorite spot on the river. But despite the best preparation she just could not get a fish landed no matter how many weekends we went out. I saw bigger trout than anything I hit that summer bite then break her line (bad knot? line too light? probably both!) come away unscathed having eaten the worm, or any number of other mishaps. Finally on the last day she hit and lost a large river trout and I got the same fish about ten minutes later. Panko and pan fried trout fillet tastes even better when you pull it out of the water yourself. And she's raring to go for next year when she can start trying again.
