KaBar for a woods knife?

It can be done, but the ka bar was not designed to do alot of wood work, and prying. In my opinion and exp, it's shape does not go though wood well. My RC 4 goes through wood much better.

I'd go with a becker bk-7 if I were you.

fu-bar kabar.

It was abused.

It is interesting, though. There was a discussion over in Shop Talk several weeks ago about whether a full-tang knife was stronger than a hidden-tang knife. Several pages of comments later, the general concensus was that regardless of the tang, the blade would fail first. This photo is pretty much proof of that. Thanks for sharing it.

I have a KA-BAR and it's good for batoning.But that's it.
It's a very poor slicer and chopper.But it's so darn beautiful !
If you convex it it may be better...
But I like my M95 Peltonen and Buck 119 much better.
But a KA-BAR is nice to have if you're a collector

I would say get the Ka-Bar if you want it then no matter what blade you get even if it is a 'better' one like the RC6 then you will still want the Ka-Bar.

I'll also chime in with many here by saying that it is a solid and useful knife. I carried mine in Afghanistan and it served me well for many tasks. I'll have that knife until I have a son to pass it on to.

I bought mine back in 88. I`ts been on 90% of my camping trips, and used hard. I don`t carry it on my belt because it`s a little too large for cleaning game, or for detailed work, But handles everything in camp that I throw at it, or throw it at(stuck a few trees with it after too many beers). I keep it in my B.O.B.
