What are you saying is a defect? This might clarify what you are saying. I have two K-bars and one Becker and have been very happy. But I am just one person. Could you please post pics of the defect you are talking about? Thanks, James

Check over the entire becker knife for uneven edge grinds, malformations of the metal, uneven handles, defects under the handles, also others report the handle screws will fall out if lock-tite is not used.

Read through the Becker forum here and you will find many accounts of defects of all types plus a few BK9 outright blade steel failures.

KA-BAR acknowledged quality control problems in one of the threads yet here is another report since?

No sense arguing with me because I know what I know if you know what I mean and I am done with KA-BAR Becker at the present time.

Just read all the threads if you care and decide for yourself if there is a KA-BAR quality control problem or not.

This is why the boys over in the Rat Cutlery and Busse forums pay a little more for their knives.

Here's another fine example of quality control on a Cold Steel Recon Scout.

And this is why you don't want to hammer with the KaBar NextGen pommel:

Shit happens. Bringing two knives (or gawd forbid, an axe) isn't the worst thing you could do.

Concerning and disturbing for sure. . .

I've been watching the Noss Knife Tests and Busse does extremely well in the tests as does the $20 Cold Steel Kukri machete made of 1055 steel. Also the $10 Cheaper Than Dirt Rough Use Knife is pretty tough. Since watching Noss I purchased some of the knives and they are flawless for under $20 and I trust them more than the KA-BAR Becker knives I have.

I believe batoning is a necessary function of a large tough camp survival style knife.
