Kabar pawn shop score

when ka-bar put these out on the market the co. had them examined by knowledgeable collectors. the opinion was unanimous .the experts said these wer'nt just knives for collectors they were identical to the quality of the old union cut. editions & actually represented a reintroduction. so good that it was if ka-bar stopped for 6 months in the old days & then resumed production.

Wow, quite the compliment! So, it is safe to assume that they were not contract made by Camillus? :foot:

Hi jnevill -

Awesome!

I have two pawn shops here in town, but I never have tried them looking for knives. Maybe I need to!

Those are beautiful to look at, and your pictures are sweet - I enjoyed having a look!

best regards -

To be honest, I bought these with the intent to sell 'em, but after handling them all day and seeing them in the collection, I'm not going to be able to part with 'em. I'll have to sell one of my others to fund this purchase. Oh, did I mention I picked these up for $135 for the set? She actually gave me a 10% discount from the $150 asking price... it pays to be a return customer! I got the Case 640045R 6 dot for $15, not a bad deal all the way around!

Thanks, the wife loves pawn shops and thrift shops, I've picked up some sweet knives at pawn shops. I got an Effingham made Blackjack stag handled skinner a few years ago for $35, I cleaned it up and it took an edge that could cut diamonds!

Oh thank goodness you found MY knives!!...I was getting really worried that they were lost :D

Man...... those are just stunning knives...well done, very nice score.

Congrats. I don't know a whole lot about vintage knives but I know enough to know those were a great score.

Please do not post prices or intentions of selling (or not) within this sub-forum as it can give the appearance of sending out "feelers" and send the wrong message.

Let's discuss the knives and leave the rest to email, private messages and/or the exchange area of the site as appropriate.

Thanks.

What a great score!! I never thought of checking out pawn shops for knives - duh! - plus Las Vegas has pawn shops on almost every corner (hope you're not reading this -billinvegas).
