I read this when i was first posted and was like wow... I almost bought a new knife after reading it.

well, if there is anything i can do, it is to keep buying. being a mechanic in an independent repair shop, times really aren't all that bad for me. and if i can write off every knife i buy in 2009 as a "tool", there is no reason for me to stop.

the only thing is... I see this forum is moving a lot more towards knife modding. At least i am.

I can't believe how good the new catalog looks. Everything is laid out so much better than previous versions.

There are a few differences other than size. The OD-2 was designed for big box stores. MSRP is expected to be around $ 29.95. Made in China, it has a 2 1/4" 8CR14 steel blade (3 1/8" closed), FRN slabs and its a liner lock.

Hey HW,
Not only the size, but blade steel, handle material, and country of origin. The OD-2 is going to be a bit smaller, the handle I believe is FRN, or glass filled nylon using a liner lock rather than a framelock. The bladesteel is not going to be Sandvik, but the exact name escapes me at the moment, and the knife will be made in China.

I think that covers most of the differences.
