Greetings fellow knifeknuts! Here’s my newest iteration of the Kaibab Kommando. The Kaibab Plateau is north of the Grand Canyon, Arizona, a very isolated region with limited accessibility (real mountain man country).

52100- Dimensions - 5/32”x 12 1/4” OAL and 7 13/16” from tip to guard and the height is 1 1/2”. Hand sanded to 1200 grit for a clean satin finish. Paul Bos Heat Treat to 60/61. The edge was about .012” before sharpening. The spine is well rounded for a comfortable thumb, the deep swedge can be sharpened and it flares at the tip for extra strength. Balances on the front of the guard.

The handle features a stainless steel guard with easy access to the spine. Ironwood, leather, blue and black G10spacers set off the elk handle and sculpted stainless pommel. The guard and pommel are polished to 2000 grit and buffed to a near mirror finish. The handle is finished with multiple coats danish oil and carnauba wax. The handle feels great in my left and right average size hand with room to spare.

The premium sheath features my custom carving on Wickett and Craig leather.

I love this one from the intricate handle work to the oh- so- slight recurve of the beautifully done blade. You got your mojo rocking with this one. Its beauty is plain to see, but I'd bet my favorite flyrod that the blade's geometry and John's amazingly precise touch make it an incredible slicer/cutter as well. Mighty fine work as always, Knifemaker Cahoon.
