Greetings fellow knife knuts! Here’s my newest iteration of the Kaibab Kommando. The Kaibab Plateau is north of the Grand Canyon, Arizona, a very isolated region with limited accessibility (real mountain man country).

80CRV2 Steel-Dimensions - 5/32”x 13” OAL and 73/4” from tip to guard and the height is 1 3/8”. Hand sanded to 600 grit for a clean satin finish. Heat Treat+cryo to 60/61. The edge was about .012” before sharpening. The spine has filework and is well rounded for a comfortable thumb, the deep swedge flares at the tip for extra strength. Balances on the guard.

The handle features a stainless steel guard with concave top for comfortable access to the spine. G10 spacers set off the ironwood, leather and elk handle. The pommel is sculpted to match the elk. The handle feels fine in my average size hand with room to spare.

The premium sheath memorializes the North Rim Lodge at the Grand Canyon, which we lost to wildfire a few weeks ago, along with my Medicine Feather design.
