Kakefat's summer picture thread.

Sweet. I have some Norwegian ancestry, and have long wanted to visit the motherland.

Mostly forest pics today. Didn't get any good landscape shots.

Here is the 11 cleaning some rhubarb.

Decided to compare the BK7 and the Fox Trapper.

One chop from each blade. As you can see the BK7 went considerably deeper into the wood than the Trapper.

One more light chop from the 7 and the tree went down.

So then I tested their whittling capabilities. I thought the Trapper would shine here. As you can see it has a blade geometry that looks like it's suited for that sort of work. But no. The BK7 was much better than the Trapper at that too.

Used the 7 to clear away some branches from a fallen tree. Could've just walked around, but this was way more fun. The 7 never needed more than one chop to cut a branch off.

Cut myself on the BK11 for the first time. Not deep, though :)

Made a whistle.

So, not the best day. The lighting wasn’t the greatest and the Fox Trapper sucked. The handle was simply horrible and the only good thing it had going was the sheath. Luckily the BK7 still rocks :D

Wow, I haven't made a whistle like that since I was a kid. Very cool pics. Thank you for sharing them.

Beautiful photos man! Thanks for sharing. The BK-11 is a great traveling companion, and those scales will smooth up and darken as you use the knife.

Excellent pictures. Only problem I saw was that knife looked a little too clean ;)

Yeah, but made for nice photos, will be cool to watch the signs of use progress.

Those pics look like some magical "Easter egg" hunt where there is a BK11 or BK7 laying around in various hiding spots. Well done!

Wow! That looks like a nice little trout stream. Ever tried fishing it?

I haven't. I'm not a big fan of fishing. However I'm sure it's great for it. I have seen fish swimming around in that river almost every time I walk past it.

Been busy lately and haven’t had time for my hikes. Instead I have been constricted to jogging and I rarely bring a camera when I jog.

The 7 resting at the top

As always you can click the panorama images for full size.
