Hi everyone..I'm looking for some information on Kalguard paint (don't even know if I'm spelling it right). As far as I know, it's a black, paint like substance that is applied to a blade after it has been sand blasted, & is then baked to a hard durable finish.
I have questions like: To what degree does the blade have to be sand blasted in order for this stuff to stick properly? Can it be applied to stainless steel or is it for carbon steel only? How long will it last, is it really that durable? & questions to the like...I would love to hear, if anyone has experience with this & your feelings about it, good or bad...Thanx guys, happy knifemaking!!

Try www.knifeart.com under uncle al's knife supplies. They carry the baked on black finish that you qare looking for. Koval knives also has it in the 99' catalog. They should be able to answer any of your questions.
