I was fortunate enough to come across a
brand new Kalinga at a cutlery shop just
recently. I actually did not purchase it the
same day that I saw it in the display. I ran
back the next day after I discovered that it
was a discontinued model. I must admit that
I am dissapointed to see such a beautiful
piece discontinued. Anyone know why this is
the case?

Bash,

The knife has the same story as several other long time Buck knives. The sales had been going down over the years and so the knife was discontinued. I guess just about everybody that wanted one got one so we didn't sell anymore!

Nice knife Dennis, thanks for posting the pic. Give or take a few, there were 682 Kalingas that came out of the Buck Custom Shop with customized handles. Just concentrating on Kalingas alone would make for a great collection.

Dennis,

Boy i feel really bad about the flaw on that handle. They are not supposed to shine so much.

You best send it in to me right away so i can "take care of it". I am sure you would want me to replace that shiney pearl stuff with some nice tough wood. I would do this for free of course.
