I just got the 408RWS-B which is the S30V, Brass, & Rosewood version. It is an amazing knife with a hair shaving sharp edge out the box. I also have the folder in S30V. Ditto on the edge. Both have outstanding blades and very high quality but both are heavier than the 420HC.

I bought my brother the Kalinga folder in 420HC and it was not as sharp...but sharp none the less. If you like/have experiance with Buck's 420HC you'll probably like this one too. But I suggest paying the $110 to get the 408...its a beast and you'll love it. I'm in love with all my Buck knives or at least most of them.

Either version should be great for skinning large game but I've not had the opportunity with the 408...but I will.

Below are a 408 fixed and 419 folder Kalinga Pro in S30V along with a 110 for scale. Those brass/rosewood/S30Vs are beautiful. Shop around for price, of course. I carry the 419 in it's sheath in my pocket some days. I had it at church one Sunday AM when a friend's wife asked if I had a knife to open the bag of LifeSavers for the reception dish. I handed her the 419 - she deployed it and recovered it one-handed and said it was sharper than her switchblade in her truck outside. She was impressed, as was I!

Stainz

Stainz, great looking 408, 419 and you got love that 110...I need to get a Al Buck 110 someday...

Well I got Buck Fever today & bought the 406 strictly for my fighter collection.
Even in 420 steel I've got it shaving sharp!
I liked the lighter weight & grippy-rubber better for my lil' "bar hopper".. a nice handful of Nasty is what it is to me! The exposed tang on the butt is a nice feature as well. Sublime & scary.
Hey..I'm talkin' "Fantasy Fighter"..I'm sorry if I sounded like a maniac..
