And one more question.
Is this Bir Gorkha logo again or something else? it's on the blade benf of WWI.
Yes that's the mark for BirGhorka if it's at the bend in the blade.
Are those marks on a Kumar Karda or other small straight blade knife?

Thanks Jake, this is all quite complicated :)

Yvsa, those moarkings come from the bend of WWII, I mean last bir gorkha.

As for the L.B. THOse are frmo the choil of the WWII and Ang Khola.

Well you've got a lot cleared up then already.:D

Kindda :) Except after all this macro photo stuff I can't type straight.. I just looked at my last message, what the heck was I typing.

Anyway, I have updated my Kami Markings gallery with all the latest findings.

Folks, if you have or can take closeups or the markins that are not listed there I'll be more than happy to add them to the gallery and I'll post credits of course if you are willing.
Preferably picture needs to be larger than 1024x768 in macro mode. I'll do photoshopping and the rest.

I'll compile something like cheat sheet for markings this week.

Thanks everyone for your help :)

Gator?

If it is any comfort, the kamis and BirGorkha drove Bill Martino a little crazy at times. Even HE couldn't vouchsafe that one marking was precisely what it had been in previous cases.

Enjoy the adventure.

Hi All,

Trying to finalily make a cheatsheet. So, had to go through all markings again.
THe strange thing is I ended up with 3 marks for Bura, all in Devenagari. Plus 2 variations in english, but there the difference is minor.
Can someone look at all these 3 and tell me if I am wrong? Obviously I couldn't match most of it to this page .

1) Mark I, on the choil, left side.

2) Mark II was on the blade bend, so should be Bir GOrkha marking, however doesn'e look like any variation I've seen so far.

3) Mark III , again, choil, left side.

So, all three are him?

Durba, Murali, and Kesar are the Kamis who have used the Nepal flag. I wish I knew who made my chitlangi with a flag mark- it doesn't fit any of them.

Gator later this week after Munk leaves and I'm not so tired I'll check out what you have done and see if I can add any input.;) :D

We have another big day planned tomorrow, going to the Gilcrease Museum and take in the Macchu Picchu exhibit and then come home and BBQ some hellacious boneless beef ribs and then eat 'till we pop.
Also have to get a large box made, packed, and ready to ship out on Tuesday.
Gotta big swap going on!!!! :D  :D

Bump :)
Still unkonwnst to me whether all 3 markings below are from Bura. Wise men, plz help!

1) Mark I, on the choil, left side.

2) Mark II was on the blade bend, so should be Bir GOrkha marking, however doesn'e look like any variation I've seen so far.

3) Mark III , again, choil, left side.

Gator, I'm not the detail man, but the first marks have started to appear and I recently had them on a villager. The second set looks like standard HI marks to me.
The third set is the 'star' mark, appearing over a year ago, and Yangdu reported that the Kamis had added it- who knows why?

Bura will put L B and the crescent moon for himself.
For all I know, some of the other marks mean, "I like fried rice," (just kidding)

I wonder if Beoram returns if he might read them for us? Howard Wallace also might know something, and Yvsa.

Gator, sorry I forgot you but things have been in sort of an uproar around here.:(

Mark I = Not sure of. Are these on the left side of the same khukuri that has the Mark III marks on it? If so it could have been a mistake that was corrected in another place as they do appear somewhat similar to my old tired eyes.
Maybe if someone else comes up with all of the same marks on the same side of the blade we can get it figured out. It won't be done overnight with the curves the kamis throw at us on a daily basis.:grumpy: ;) :D

Mark II = BirGhorka marks at bend of blade it appears to me. Not exactly like the ones on my Kumar Village 12" AK but dayumed close.
I'm thinking it's just the variation in the way individual kamis learned to write. Again comparing more than one khukuri will let us know.

Mark III = Bura's initial's in Devengari along with his half sun or half moon:confused: mark. The mark with the circle and the marks at the cardinal points is the mark for HI since some people have stolen HI Photo's for their own use.

MUNK QUOTE=Bura will put L B and the crescent moon for himself.

WELL REALY THAT JUST SHOWS YOUR TRUE NATURE & RESPECT FOR KAMI & NEPALIS.{DESPITE YOUR IM ONLY JOKING COMENT.}

mAY BILL FORGIVE YOU.

KL.

KL, what are you trying to prove? You don't like "our" blades, so why exactly are you here? To get a rise? To cause a mess like you did in the MA forum? In my book, you are welcome as long as you remember that you are in our house. Take your muddy-a$$ boots off and check your trolling card at the door. Elbows off the table or Josh'll get ya;) Ok?
I for one KNOW that munk respects the kamis. He doesn't have to justify it for you. He didn't get to be a Mod on his good looks alone. If Bill Martino thought he was a good egg, then he's a good egg and cares about Bura and the rest.

Jake

Bill always liked my sense of humor. The Kamis have their own too.

KL, I'm reccomending you be banned for troll behavior.

Awww khukrilove...

you test even my patience. Don't come visiting with a flaming torch, ok?

You would be amazed at how considerate folks can be here. Just operate within the rather elastic bounds of courtesy, respect, and tolerance.

(btw, was it you or ole Willard who dinged me with a grey square? I'm not offended, but unsigned stuff is soooo mysterious.)
