Butterfly knife arrived today, remarkable blade. Reminds me of BB's fighting sword, I love the curve to it, and it's super light, fast as lightning. I love everything about it, except I would really like the top of the guard where the "hook" is, the opening should be a tad wider, so that I can fit my thumb in there to swing the blade around my thumb into a reverse grip, that would make it overly awesome. Without being able to use it as a thumb pivot, the hook becomes useful just as it does on a jutte.

I have a pair of custom made practice Chinese Butterfly knives, I may ask auntie to send them over, and see if the kamis can duplicate the design (which I am sure they can), but make them real blades, with sharpened convex edges, that would be the ultimate set for me.

Mine are similar to those in the pic, but the blade is a bit thinner, the guard around the hand is a "D" guard, not the half circle, and the "thumb hook" on top of the guard, just a bit narrower (space between the top of the blade in relation to the bottom of the hook), so that there is less play. Asians have small hands, of course, bigger hands, have bigger thumbs, which would require a bigger space to accommodate the larger thumbs.
