Blade is beautiful. To be brutally honest I'm not sure the handle wrap and box are in quite the same league.

I just needed a way to store it since these typically don't come in sheaths. The handles on kamisori are either left metal or have a cheap rubber slip on handle. I wanted to keep it simple but add some grip and moisture protection in the process.

that's a kamisori profile but not geometry

How is it not? Lol it has an asymmetric grind. Uma and ura side. The pics don't show it well but zoom in and you will see. Other wise ill take more pics to prove it. This isn't the first kamisori I've made and I've owned several iwasaki kamisori

lol, if it is I apologize but the pics are so fuzzy it looks like a std. western double hollow grind.

I had a really hard time taking pics of this thing. I don't know why it's so different then my knives but it gave me fits. If you look at the last pic, you can see I have the razor tilted. Turn your head slightly and the asymmetric grinds become more apparent. I need to pay coop to teach me how to take indoor pics.

Yes, I owned one that had a rubber handle, somewhat ugly but very functional. I think a finer thread and possibly a tsuka-maki style wrap would be very nice on such a pretty razor.

Looks great, I too thought that it looked more like a western style razor grind from the last picture... but the rest of the pictures made it look correct to me (maybe I'm just crazy :D).

I can see the grind on the last picture if I look very closely.

now then, the box...the few kamisori boxes like yours that I have seen have a stand built inside them, so that the edge does not touch any of the walls inside the box. Is there enough room inside the box to manage doing that?

with that said, I have been wanting to try a Kamisoroi and a Kamisori with a western grind, as I am curious how the differences are when shaving. Oh, and I love how the hemp wrap looks.
