I had said in this thread, that my wife and I were going to go on a Kampsville run, to see if the leaves looked nice. They did, and here's some photos.
Necessary Becker content:
This is heading to Kampsville, via Carrolton, Illinois. The usual flat corn and bean land, then all of a sudden you drive through a tunnel of trees, to get to the bottom of the river valley. Photo was taken through the windshield, so bear with me:
Once you get to the bottom, this is what it looks like, driving to the other side of the valley, to Kampsville:
Took this photo of the Kampsville shoreline, while waiting for the ferry to take us across:
Photos taken while on the ferry boat:
We decided to take a route I have frequented in the past, kind of between Kampsville, and Pearl, Illinois, through the country:
Couple miniature horses we came across:
Damn jets were out full force again today:
Saw a tree full of turkey buzzards. Was trying to get a photo of them spreading their wings, sunning themselves, but the were spooked every time I got out of the truck:
John Deere combine. Looks small here, but was pretty cool in real life:
A tree in Hamburg, Illinois, atop a hill:
South of Hamburg, overlooking the Mississippi river valley:
A few shots out the window, going down the road back toward Hardin. Some of my photos have a bit of motion blur from shooting like this:
Along the Great River Road, near Pere Marquette State Park:
Not a good photo, but a house on top of the bluff, overlooking Grafton, Illinois. Grafton is where the Illinois, and Mississippi rivers meet:
A photo going through town. The cars went all the way through town, and about a mile on out of town. It's a hot tourist destination. Old Settlers Days was going on, but also it's a biker mecca:
Murph, I was telling you over the phone, how nice it was between Grafton, and Alton Illinois, with the bluffs on one side, and the Mississippi on the other. Here's a few photos, taken out the windshield:
A church I thought looked cool in Elsah, Illinois. The architecture in this town is outstanding. Here's a history, but also, if you Google image Elsah, Illinois, you'll see some of the unique houses and building, made out of a local quarry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elsah,_Illinois
Back on the road towards Alton:
More needed Becker content:
Had a great day again. Just about a 200 mile all rounder. Looking forward to camping next weekend. I love this kind of weather. Was 76° here today, but love the Fall in general.
