Kangaroo

Rob, you must have some very very strange "chickens" in QLD ...........!!!!!! ;)

:) Yeah, well, it is QLD. Everything here is a bit 'special'. :D

Seriously tho, kanga is delish!!! Love it. And yes, cook it on high heat and get it cripsy and charred on the outside and pink and juicy on the inside. With some garlic and mixed herbs - YUM!!!!

It's been too long since I had roo. It also works well if it's cut into thin strips and cooked on high heat for a really short time. Im a big fan of a caramelised onion and red wine sauce/glaze myself (hey Im South Australian so wine has got to be part of it).

That looks great. On a side note I have been eating some of the best beef I have had in a long time. Their was 4 steers that got dumped off a trailer on I-40 back in May. One was rounded up, THP had to shoot one a few weeks later when it came onto the interstate,we had to shoot one that was living behind a subdivision that was coming onto a busy road at night last month. We could not get it out of the woods where we had to put it down. The last one had been living in kind of a clearing beside the interstate that was started as a motel site then abandoned. A couple weeks ago it started coming out crossing the interstate on ramp and a road way. There was no getting anywhere near it to capture it so we put it down last Tuesday and was able to butcher it so it was not a waste. There is a big difference in one that has been living wild for a few months.

.... and those of us that grew up in the Hunter Valley commiserate that you are stuck with only those South Australian reds, but hey, at least they are OK for cooking …. ;) :D :D

Tastes like chicken.

Chicken must be a pretty broad taste or it's just so popular that all the other animals are jealous and want to taste like it. Kangaroo looks quite tasty! It's making me very hungry.

Rabbit is what I would have thought it would taste like.

 You ate Skippy?!? :D

That is the reason why it took so long for me to get my Mum to try it! She grew up with Skippy on TV, and found it very hard to eat that first bit after months of trying. Once she tried it she was impressed though. But it didn't help that I hummed the Skippy theme while she was chewing :D

I remember when i was a kid and ate deer for the first time my father said he was cooking Bambi. My first reply was Bambi smells delicious. I ate it with a smile and then said NOW i know why they were shooting at Bambi's family, they are YUMMY LMAO
