Since I bought my 5.11 Master Karambit ( 2 weeks ago ) I am so confuse ...

I am not sure if this kind of blade is the best for and EDC carrying talking about the cutting tasks ( Cutting Apple, Oranges, Watermelon, Lime, open boxes, cutting rope, etc and self defense scenarios ).

What do you think about it ?

Do you have one as an EDC ?
Is it folder or fixed ?
How do you carry it ?

Thank you for sharing ....

I have the emerson folder that I have used for my EDC for a long time....most of my tasks include box opening and package opening...that type of thing. It works great for those. I dont imagine it would cut an apple well, but I just bite into apples anyway. I can certainly see its downfalls as an EDC. If your needs are more geared towards those types of cutting tasks, I would consider something else ass an EDC.

It is great for defense only. I owned a pair of the same kbits and promptly cut waves into them.

I carried one in each R/L pocket for a while. They would draw into this grip...

Nice idea on those karambits. I like the emerson a little better than this one though. I thought it was more comfortable in my hand, easier to control, and very well designed. I would never have thought to cut waves into the other one though.

Charlie Mike, you took off a lot of material of your kbits, I think I am going to do something like you did ... but I am to try to remove less material ....

Because I really like the wave feature ... I have a Spyderco Endura Wave and I am not feel confortable with out that feature...

I am well known here for cutting waves into anything :D

In the US, dealers cant sell the fox folder with the wave since emerson patented it...so I couldnt find one, but it looks VERY VERY similar to the emerson. I may even like it more since I like my fox fixed a lot. Let me know how you like the fox waved folder when you get it, and if you have had your hands on the emerson, a little comparison would be awesome. Thanks!!

The Fox looks like it has an Emerson pocket clip too.

Yeah, the fox looks very similar to the emerson in a lot of ways. I read somewhere that it was essentially a copy, but I dont know how true that it...

I can see the offensive/defensive merits of a blade with positive curvature, but for utility reasons, I prefer this...

That is why I could not find it with my knives vendors ... I had to bought it online in the United Kingdom...

the CQC-7 is a karambit with a Tanto Blade with no negative curvature, my friend has one and loves it for EDC

its actually a pretty nice knife, id check one out

Cheers!

I've owned the 7 kbit, that was a good knife.

I think the karambit could be used for any task that a box cutter could be used for such as; boxes, tape, string, strap, shrink wrap, blister card packaging, clam shell packaging, etc.

It's probably not an ideal fruit cutter. :(

I think they are kinda useless imo Tough to sharpen imo and they are very very unfriendly looking. Not a good trait in todays world imo. Its knives like these that make knives look like bad news--and i dont mean this to offend anyone but sheeple will be sheeple:P

I've both the regular, and commander Emerson k-bits. Both are great little knives.
-CM what are those blades you posted?

The first (with the cat) are 5-11 Master kbits that I waved. The second is a Snag by Reese Weiland.
