karambit edc use?

I used one when remodeling a house to cut drywall and carpet. Back in the last century when I was young, the karambit went by much more mundane names: "Linoleum Knife" "Carpet Knife" and "Pruning Knife" were the most common.

Yea I don't get what all the discussion is about. Its a hawkbill with a fingerhole. If u have use for a hawkbill blade, then u have use for a karambit.....

I actually consider the karambit a utility knife first and a fighting knife second. Let's remember its original purpose, which was to work as a farming tool.

For EDC, the karambit is great for opening boxes and other kinds of packaging. I haven't used mine for more than that, though.

I recently finished a six month experiment where, after taking it from storage and doing a little work on it, I EDC'd my Emerson karambit daily. I posted about it in here once.

I never ran into anything it couldn't do. It was fun actually. It was during this period I also discovered how great it was at yard work and cutting vines, etc.

It's death to zip-ties too with the pointy sharp tip. Also to packaging and blister wrap.

The one thing I've been able to think of it wouldn't do well that some may require is, like, slicing carrots maybe? Although, as a hand held thumb-slicer if you hold it right it will slice a veggie as fast as a knife.

I finally started carrying another knife for a while just out of boredom but had a good time carrying the karambit and using it again.

I found the "can't EDC a karambit" myth to be as big a one as "tantos aren't good for EDC," or "D-2 rusts too easily."

Just carry it. If you run into something it won't handle then you can change up.
