Karambit or ballisong

Just another "make damn sure you're legal" post.

My state bans autos for all but "curio" purposes, and bali's are legal, but questionable, and many officers THINK they know the law, but don't. But also check local ordinances as well. Many townships, counties, and such, have all kinds of their own weird rules. Knife laws can be as confusing at gun laws.

Also, how old are you? If you're under 18, the laws may prohibit you from anything, being a minor.

Lastly, I know this is for EDC, but DO NOT carry it to school. Or even leave it in your car parked on property. Period! Schools have such strict, zero tolerance, weapons rules these days that even an SAK can get you expelled. And if you ARE over 18, this could really be a legal problem that will follow you for years.

Get what you want, but stay legal. Or at least understand the laws.

I am 18 and I am taking all my classes at a local college and have carried my butterfly knife for the past 3 semesters and never had a problem, I do need to talk to a police officer to make sure about local laws. I live in Ohio so everything is really about why you are carrying the knife. A knife as a tool is fine but a knife for a weapon is illegal, but I don't know about a knife that is carried as a tool that ends up being used as a weapon.

Just remember, what you HAVA done, does not necessarily mean it's legal, or that the college doesn't have a rule you're breaking (or at least bending a bit).

Also, never, NEVER trust an officer to know the law. This is not a slam on LEO's, but most of them don't know the laws any better than you or I.

Just be careful, and be legal.
