You already mentioned Laci, and in addition, SARCO, a cheap Pakistani company makes a kerambit, sometimes marketed as the Pteradactyl, or the Ninja Claw, and other assorted silliness. They run between $7-$15, depending on where you get them. I've seen them on Ebay, got mine from Smokey Mountain Knife Works.

Mr Kier,

I would really like to see some your karambits! My teacher, Guru Keith Moffet (kuntao silat) speaks very highly of you!

Steve Tarani has designed a karambit trainer for edges2 (you can see the karambit trainer on their site) That would be the general design...

Thanks for your time, and let me know what you think of the design.

I have kerambit trainers from Edges2, Bob does excellent work.

Please say hi to Guru Tuan Keith for me, I haven't spoken to him in a while, but we have spent many hours training together.
Ask him if he still has the big parang I made Uncle Bill. Now that is a killing tool!!

I just hate to admit it, but I've become "hooked" on Kerambits.

What ever happened to RDT, and the versions he photo-teased us with???????

How about some Kerambit sheaths from Kydex or Concealex?
Neck, or IWB carry?
Other carry modes?

Any thoughts from any of the active Kerambit users?
Liveblade??

I have one of Guro Tom's Kerambits and its Awesome! Fit and finish are exceptional and he even installed Bubinga scales from the wood I supplied.

Its the real deal spur design, and easily concealed unlike these RamboKerambits that are suddenly the rage.

Thanks again Mr Kier!

You can get Tarani's Aluminum Control Device from www.karambit.com

You can also get live kerambits from http://www.keenedgeknives.bizland.com/Kerambit.html

www.karambit.com also has a link to the Suwanda Academy, which sells real-deal Indonesian karambits. Strider Karambits are also listed on www.karambit.com , but whether they are in stock or not, I cannot say. I obtained two Strider Karambits from different dealers, and in each case bought their last one. CKRT is supposed to be showing a frame-lock folding karambit at the SHOT show, and since CKRT generally has a good product at a low price, this is quite interesting to me.

Well, Liong Mah (www.ancientsoulknives.com) designs quite a few. Our buddy RDT as well. Emerson also has folding Karambits. The above mentined Steve Tarani has both tapes and a Kerambit out made by the Strider guys. Warren Thomas is also making some in Ti as is Steve Ryan. Reese Weiland is also coming out with one in two different blade shapes.

Hope this helps!

I have a set of Kerambits from Valiant Co. http://www.valiantco.com

Decent little knives, my main problem with them is that the handles are sized way too small. If I grip them tightly with the blade down out of the bottom of my fist and the ring around the index finger, the blade winds up hitting the bottom of my hand.

here's a pic of them, off of the valiant site.

Hi Rex,

Actually, I believe that frame-lock folding kerambit is going to be produced by Cutters Knife and Tool, a company that also makes the Walter Brend Double Action #2 folder. It's a Reese Weiland design. I expect it to be quite a bit more expensive than anything made by Columbia River Knife and Tool, a brand which, indeed, offers decent knives at low prices.

Also, Jerry Hossom, custom knifemaker extraordinaire, is coming up with his own version of the kerambit. He got "completely hooked on the hook" (his words, not mine :D ) after watching a demo by Guro Ray Dionaldo a few weeks ago, during a Sayoc Kali seminar in Atlanta. Hopefully, we'll get to see it at the next Blade Show.

I also make kerambits. Following are a couple of pics of a pair I made. One has ivory handles and the other is a acid etched finish with Carbon fiber handles.
