Thanks guys. It sure has been fun doing them. Plus I've added three knives to my collection this week without going over 5 bucks yet. Thats unless you count the scabbard materials I ordered. Fifteen dollars shipped for 2 lbs scrap leather from ebay, and some tools and a good selection of rivets from Tandy for $20 shipped. Should be able to get several small scabbards for that though.
I really liked the e-book Ripper. I'm checking out the forge page now. Please post some pics of your knives.
Thanks Yvsa although I think it will take lots more progress before I call myself a knifemaker. On the second go round I could feel sort of where the grinder was positioned better, and I had a better sense of when things were getting hot. Long way to go there till the symmetrics are perfect though. The edges are a little better/thinner on the kardas than on the first knive. I whittled some wood with all three and they cut through oak really nice.
I mentioned building a forge to the Mrs. and she didn't freak out. I'll have to check that out after Christmas. Today I'm doing yard work and maintenance on the shop tools. I'll take some pics in there and start a shop thread.
