Katana Blade Blank

I emailed Atlanta Cutlery with a lot of questions, still waiting for a reply. Although it's only been about 24 hrs... :)

Vess Cane Swords are perfectly legal :) I am Making one once I am done Designing the beast

Well, if Zatoichi is legal, I might have to get one. I talked to my friend again, and apparently straight-bladed swords he just doesn't like, so that katana blank is still what I'll probably end up buying as soon as I get a reply from Atlanta Cutlery... :)

I read a few reviews on Chen's Zatoichi, and so far sounds good. I did read that the handles crack sometimes, and that without a guard the hand can slip onto the blade, but even if the handle falls off, I can always make a new one from some exotic wood... :) And fortunately for me I actually like straight-bladed swords.

Many people Make Cane swords out of broken Fencing swords It seems you have the Skills needed to work the wood Its Fun stuff The problem Is When you start at one you will take on another 5 before your done lol

I'm gonna hate myself for asking this question but....
Bryce, where does one go about finding broken fencing swords?

Just on a side note, father son team making khukuris out of Benz leaf springs sounds like the kamis at Himalayan Imports, though they are in Nepal, not India. believe there are two father son teams that have been there, at least at one time,e ven fi they're not there now.

I know there's older and younger brothers.

That sounds like them, that part of the world anyway. They used a couple of stones for a heat trap along with an old fashioned bellows. I don't recall what they used for an anvil.

I do not know myself what they used as anvils but I just bought a pen knife from them, I am in the middle of polishing it and sharpening it up, they don't come sharp NIB but they blade is pretty damn good IMO.
And so far it is taking an edge well.
Cuting, yes I am not even finished but I have done some, went 1 inch into my mahagony table with little effort, leaving nothing more than a stain on the blade, hey all woods do that anyway.
that was when the edge was not even sharp it was around 30 degrees convex sabre grind.
I am now starting to get the proper what I want 12-15 degree sabre grind on it, convex of course.

None the less I am interested in blade blanks myself maybe anothre project after this one.
