I have become fascinated with the bigger HI blades since I received my 21" GS. I am seriuosly thinking about getting an Everest Katana - so beautiful.

Can any owners please give me some info on them !!

Are they diiferentially tempered, do they have the HI mark and Kami mark. Whats the horn scabbard like ??

How do they compare to the Tarwars.

All help appreciated

Brendan

The Kats are very tough. All are differentially tempered, no real distall tapering in the one I own, a UBDOTD, which leads to more strength than speed.
I have one with a carved horn handle and a horn scabbard. The entire rig works and you can beat the heck out of it and it will keep on going.

If you are looking for a traditional Katana, HI is not the place to go. However if you are looking for a blade that will take a beating and keep going, you have found a home.

I have been wanting a Tarwar for awhile. It is more of a "short sword", but from what I understand it can take more of a beating than the Kat. One day...one day...

Thanks Dave

I don't know what to get next - I want something different and I wouldn't buy a blade anywhere else any more.

I will have both one day !!

I get a kick out of Uncle's little comments! Isn't that how your started all the interest in the "Special Tarwar"

Just teasing the heQQ out of us. Keep it up, brightens my day!

I'd bet you just have to hold one in your hands to realize fully how magnificent the katana are.

But I could be wrong. But, then again...just imagine...

Sheesh...

Here we go again.

First the special tarwar with the carved handle, no pix. Sold. Now a special katana...

Stop teasing us. At least give those of us who aren't the lucky purchasers a pix.

Please.

How do they make the horn scabbards - surely there is a seriuos trick to it. Unless thay the buffalos in Nepal have really long horns !!

Hehe

Hm, Uncle Bill is very, very clever - and a good psychologist (You know that)

This story here remembers me of what I learned a few years ago about Pawlow and his famous dogs (I`m a teacher and had to do some psychology): Whenever Uncle Bill punches the button "I have this special ..." he will make our mouths water in expectation of pics or even a deal....

It`s working quite well on us I think :D - and we like it...

Then some mysterious person calls up to buy it

before it reaches the forum ;)

I'm not smarter than anybody. I've just lived longer.

That katana is so special I may not sell it and just keep it for myself.

AARRGHH !!!

driving me crazy !!

how about you let me have it and I will look after it forever
