The dust bunnies reside under Uncle Bill's bed. They are the ferocious protectors of the Martino family fortune and khukuri collection. Reputedly of Ghorka descent, though cute and cuddly looking they are insidiously clever and NOT to be underestimated.

Brendan,
When temptation sets in try taking a deep breath and counting to a million. It hasn't worked for me yet but you might be luckier than I.
Mike
P.S.
With regard to the your scabbard question I would guess that they probably soak the horn and cut it into squares. Then apply these to the wood of the scabbard. I've never seen one so I don't know, I'm just guessing

You can see one in action if you rent

For the horn scabbard, Mad Mike is partially correct. They also use what is known as "white metal" as bands to keep everything in one piece. My Kat was a Blem cause Customs got hasty and dropped the box it was in, the "white metal" is soft enough that it cannot handle that kind of abuse.
So far the Horn has held up really well over the past few months, but the first few weeks after I recieved it I smothered it in Corona Hoof treatment and let it sit. This also loosened up all the red buffing compound still on it and allowed me to clean it up real nice, a beautiful blem.

...but it is too old to mess with.

OK, sort of understand. So the Katana's sheaths are somewhat frail or are customs just dumb a$$es ??

No Brainer !!

Dust bunnies are scary things - so innocent looking. Once again proving Uncle's clever ways. Lure em in and WHAP !! You got em.
