Lovely old Kaufmann&sons Solingen made Barlow.
Still got the construction where the backsprings end flush with the front bolsters.
Removed the old black scales and replaced them with the last bit of stag I had.
A good clean-up and the make-over is complete.
Many more years left in this old fellow.
Perhaps I should patina the blade, but the owner can decide that.....

Nice improvement Oupa! Nicely fitted stag. Can you show us the springs? Don't often get to see that fitting style!!

Now all it needs is a lot of good pocket time to polish that stag to a nice "pocket worn" look. Maybe a good 30-50 yrs a in a pocket? ;)

Nice work as usual, Dirk.

Here is how the flush backspring construction compare with a modern day Schatt.

That is so impressive! It reeks of quality. I wonder if anyone has tried it on production knives in modern times??
Thanks Dirk!

I suspect it was an European way of doing things years ago.
All of the ones I have come across were vintage knives from Western Europe.

Congratulations Dirk! That`s a great embellishment to a fairly worn pocket knife!!!
