Kayaking (salt water) knife?

Have you looked at the CRKT ABC models, I use one on my SAR pfd, and do most everyone else. they are used in fresh water mind you, but I can't see them being any worse.

My picks...

Benchmade 100SH20. Comes with an excellent sheath and is made of steel that is impervious to rust/corrosion. I keep this one on my PFD.

Spyderco Aqua Salt. Also available in plain edge.

Or Spyderco Pacific Salt.

Then finding a small serrated blade with a plastic sheath I can keep clipped on my life jacket for emergencies.

One possibility is the Spyderco Saver Salt. If you don't want to have to flip open the knife, you can have a custom sheath made with the knife open--basically like it's a fixed blade.

I grabbed a quick shot of the Benchmade on my PFD. The sheath connects securely to a lashing tab on my vest.

I carry this one attached to my pdf. CRKT ABC E.R. Pretty secure sheath and it does the trick. I got mine for 25 bucks.

Another vote for the Spyderco Pacific Salt with the yellow FRN. That's what I use and not a spec of rust on it. The yellow of the handle has faded a lot however from UV exposure.

This is my "water knife". Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Salt. Mine is the PE version.

I have used it for kayaking, canoeing, even light fishing. And it is small and light enough to carry in swim trunks pocket whenever I am at beach or river ... great knife and allows me to always have an edge.

Has anybody used the Benchmade 111H2O in N680 steel or the Griptillian H2O in X15? I am interested in a salt water folding knife as well. It sounds like the Salt series is well-respected but I've read a couple of comments saying that the edge retention isn't all that great.

The serrated salt knives hold a VERY good edge, better than many/most other steels' serrated edges. The plain edge salts may not have great edge-holding, but they are quite fair at it, and very easy to restore.

Any stainless mora.

If you want something custom, check out Ban's titanium knives with carbide edge. He has his own forum here at BF.
