kayaks?

I know a couple of folks that paddle a Pungo, and they really like that yak. The 12' version is a nice size. Easy to transport, maneuverable, but plenty of room. If I'm not mistaken, that yak has a bulkhead in the stern which accomplishes two things: (1) it keeps water away from stored items, and (2) it provides buoyancy should the kayak somehow flip over.

That's a good kayak for leisure paddling on open water, and great kayak for recreational paddles on slower moving creeks and rivers. A solid choice IMO.

I have the 12 Footer. Fold down seats that can be moved in minutes to allow 1 to 3 people. Rod Holders, double bladed paddles. Stable. I can't say enough about this boat.

Canoe, kayak, jon boat... It is a blast. I can get it in and out of my truck by myself with no problem

Absolutely the only way to go!

I'm no expert, and my experience is limited to sit-on-tops, but I REALLY like the Malibu yaks. I have a 12.5' Pro Explorer and a Perception Koho. The Malibu has been a nice balance between speed, maneuverability, and stability for me. I mostly fish in calm fresh water down here in Texas, so I don't have to deal much with getting cold and wet. :D

We have a "lake" (really big retention pond) here that we fish in my free time (which isn't near enough). The kayaks are awesome for quietly getting out on the water without irritating people or the fish.

It sounds like you have one in mind already, but I figured I'd throw my experience in as well.

Here's a pic from one of our big-time fishing expeditions. :D

I agree with truthseeker that the sit-on-top is the king of the fishing platform. And those Malibu yaks are nice. I fished a kayak tournament down on the coast of South Carolina a while back, and I rode down there with a guy who fished a Malibu. He had nothing but praise for it.

Some pics from that trip follow. I've included a couple of his Malibu Pro Explorer. I was paddling a green Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 Angler. You can see mine just up the beach from his in the second pic.
