Hello,

First time posting, though I attempted to use the search. Seems there isn't anything new/related to my subject. I'm trying to wire a KBAC-27D with 220v from the wall. I'm not sure if I need 12/3 wire or 12/4 (Red, Black, Green, Neutral). The KBAC manual only shows Hot(red), Negative(Black), Ground(Green). I am not sure what to do with the Neutral. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Theres a video on youtube of the guy from pheer grinders doing a walkthrough. Really informative. If i can find it ill post it

Assuming you have a 3 phase motor. here is what I did with mine:

For the VFD to motor, they didn't have any 16/4 at my local HD or Lowes so I ordered 20' of SOOW 16/4 wire from automation direct, shipped for @ $22 with 2 day delivery ($16 wire, $6 shipping).

my power cord is 30 feet of 12/3 bought from Home depot I think, and I used a 20amp breaker.

I have the same vfd. It just needs two hots and a ground. It does not need a natural, neutral is only used if something needs 240 and 120v.

2 hots and a ground from wall to VFD, 3 hots and ground from VFD to motor.

Now, depending on what your shop set up is, you can wire up a 4 prong plug if you have another machine that takes that configuration and want to keep the same outlet, for instance. You'd just leave out the white conductor and only wire up two hots and a ground.

Also, you can use 12/4 for both connections, if you just want to buy one roll of wire; again, just cut the white conductor of each end of the cable when you wire it up from wall to VFD.

Thank you, everyone, for responding. Pheer grinders youtube video helped a lot. I've got it working and running. Sorry for the "newb" questions.
