I have a fellow offering me a KBDA 24d VFD model 9537D
Here is a picture of the label on the unopened box.

The label appears to represent that the output is single phase and not 3 phase.
Am I reading this correctly?
The owner insists it is 3 phase output and doesn't want to open the box.
I cannot find any reference online to a model 9537D.
Any help would be appreciated.

Right, but there are single phase output vfds for shaded pole or non capacitor start motors and this label says 1phase output. Also, have you ever seen a spec sheet for a 9537D?

Jonathans, Usually a person selects the motor they want for an application and then finds the right VFD. If you want a totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) motor that is 1 hp for say a disc sander then you might want a KBAC-24 D VFD with a reverse switch or if you wanted to power a 2x72 inch belt grinder you might want a 1 1/2 hp or 2 hp motor (TEFC) with either a base mount or face mount or both and you might to buy the popular KBAC 27-D VFD which will work for 1 1/2 to 2 hp motors. They will have to be 3 phase motors to give you variable speed with a VFD. I can't tell if the model you are describing is white or dark in color but It should work with a 1 hp 3 phase motor. Get your motor and then shop for a VFD designed for that motor. Unless this is a great deal then I would buy from a dealer who will take back a defective unit and gives you a warranty and receipt.

Until the box is opened, there seems to be insufficient information available to know whether or not it will do the job required. Single phase VFDs are only suitable for fan applications (Quadratic Torque), where the power varies as the cube of the speed.

There is no KBDA listed on the website with single-phase output, and no model 9537D listed. There's a possibility it's a special for a fan manufacturer. It's gotta be worth a phone call to KB electronics.

Thanks guys,
Calling KB sounds like the best idea. By the way, it is going to be used on a 1hp 3phase surface grinder.
I appreciate the input.

The manual was linked in Post #3 already.

Called KB and they said it must be a misprinted label. Hopefully they're correct as I picked up both units for $75 each.
If they made a mistake I'll have a couple of excellent blower controls!
