KDSH love

Yea...that's what I'm thinking. Those things are awesome. I've had several Benchmade toms....they didn't fit the bill....the KDSH looks like a lifelong companion.

Yeah I contacted the shop once to see if I could order a rodent trail w/o scales to do a modification myself, and it was a no-go. I've got to get some use on my kd to see if the handles are going to stay.

They feel much better with scales than with wrap, and feel like it can give you arthritis or carpal tunnel if you chop too much hard stuff with bare steel handle. It is not pleasant even with heavy callused paws.

How do you like it with no scales? Been thinking of picking up a 'wrapped' version that could be used as an entry tool. Doesn't hurt thatThose things just look awesome.

You need to wrap that bad boy up

I love and have no issues with it without scales. I haven't handled one with scales so I can't make a comparison. I did end up wrapping it. We'll see how long that lasts. I had to get used to throwing it bare so the lip at the bottom of the handle indent didn't catch my pinky when exiting my hand. Not an issue when wrapped. I haven't done much chopping with it; I use it mostly for throwing. A lot.

Next to my ASH.......this is my most used tool/blade I own. From years of owning and using many different tomahawks......the Kill Devil is the most functional tomahawk made today in my opinion.

The KDSH is my most used bladed object other than kitchen knives. Glad to hear your opinion. This is the only tomahawk I've ever owned. What do you use it for? How do you see it as more functional than other tomahawks?

Hmmm... Might have to get one with scales to feel the difference myself...

Nice pics! How thick are they .25?

Mine is .20".

I'm amazed that as much abuse as this thing has received, as many times as I've whacked my fence with full force throws, its [original] edge is hardly damaged. The bigger dent (arrows) is from [accidentally] whacking a 1/2" diameter grade 5 bolt. Don't remember what the smaller one is from.

I love my KDSH so much I bought it a Mil Overrun friend to play with. AZTimT, I haven't chopped with the mil one, but it makes my hand hurt just thinking about it; I think it's gonna just be a thrower. I have thrown my regular one around a ton, and it's a blast. I have hit all kinds of rocks and it even rolled into a fire once! I got it out pretty quick and the finish was just a little dirty. I wish I had access to my hawk or had some pics of it to post. All the small dings just come right out after some sharpening. I want to buy a third one now just thinking about it!
