Ok guys, I know a lot of you carry neck knives when you're out in the woods. How do you keep it from flopping around too much? I seem to recall someone posting a setup they use when kayaking? A baldric rig or something like that. Seemed like it would work pretty well. Any thoughts/pics on this or other ways to remedy the situation?

When I have a neck knife on, it is always tucked in my shirt, flopping around usually is not a problem for me. If it falls out, I put it back in my shirt.

What tonym said. I've worn 4 types of neck knives over the years and have never had problems with any of them flopping around. Just keep it inside your clothes -which is where it should be.

i often carry a neck knife while in the woods... i have never had a problem with it moving around too much... i think as long as your not running or doing jumping jax, it should be fine.. :)
if i'm wearing a shirt with a chest pocket, sometimes i'll tuck it in there, to get it out of the way... the balldric style set up is pretty cool.. i have used that a few times as well... i tends to hang much lower in that case, more closer to your ribs..

I often where a neck knife and keep it in my shirt as well. If I have printing issues often I will attach a whistle at the top of the sheath, it lifts the shirt away from the rest of the knife and prints "whistle" so everyone knows what the cord around my neck is for. Mac

Who was it that kept there RC3 strapped over their shoulder, across the body, so it hung under the armpit? I'll try to find the pics.

That would be I:D

Me too! Except my knife handle is down vertical.

But I do prefer belt carry.

I will sometimes carry one of my heavier knives ( too large for neck carry ) such as My Dumpster Mutt or Syderco temperance similar to this but so that it hangs straight down to my side.
When carrying a small necker though I don't find regular neck carry to be a problem. I am awaiting a kydex sheath for my SwampWarden but have been carrying it in a Maglite sheath and this sits very flat with hardly any movement even when I'm running !

I also prefer belt carry, but when I am fishing in my john boat it is easier to access the knife when it is by my chest when sitting. That is the primary reason for that rig.

Just remember that if it is under your shirt, then it is concealed. That may or may not be legal in your area. Concealed carry of a fixed blade knife is illegal in California, for example. I generally carry a belt knife, but when I is cold out I carry my busse gamewarden in a neck sheat under my jacket to keep the handle warm.

Good fish! Hey mike you ever attach one to the strap of your back quiver?

not on my current back quiver.. but a friend of mine is going to be making me a new one, that will have a knife on the strap...

something like this...without the horse tooling, of course.. this is my father in laws...:o the horse is his draft horse DANSON...
