Keeping your shop organzied

There have been some great ideas, so this may not add much, but:

I ran a 2x3 across the top of my work area with dowel pegs every few inches, for hanging belts, clamps, extra saw blades, etc. It works really well.

I second the peg-board:

Tait, in your first pic, it kind of looks like you have a buffing wheel mounted on a desk fan... am I seeing things?

I'm not seeing a buffing wheel... are you looking at the porta-bandsaw mount? I see the desk fan, now... but it is just a ... desk fan.

You're just seeing the white wall through the grated shroud of the fan blade cover.

I thought everybody knew about the buffer fans. Don't you have one? It runs fast but really low torque...

Actually, Rick and Karl have it right. That's an interesting illusion, I've never noticed it before.

Ok... wierd, to me it still really looks like a large narrow linen wheel with cutting compound on the edge. I even thought, do people do this? Must be a hell of a stout fan to work for a buffer- funny, the rest of Tait's shop looks so professional, I mean, he's got a variable KMG for Pete's sake...

Ok, ridiculousness at an end. I won't grace this thread with pics of my shop, as it seems to be a showcase for nice clean organized benches. My benches are ANYTHING but. Actually, I've gotten a couple ideas here for improving that.

Okay... I see it now, Salem(but I had to squirt hot sauce in my eye and squint really hard while looking through a chainlink fence.:p) The blackened cutting compound you see is the "horizon" of the mesh guard on the fan. Looking at the base, you can see that the head is turned 45* to the bench at almost a direct profile to the camera.

Not that you really had trouble figuring that out after the head slap.... lol.

Not a bad idea, though. It would all but eliminate the deadly buffer grab. I think all that would be at risk is spilling your coffee or something.

I am going to try and get pics of my temporary shop later today.

Pass the hot sauce Rick. I had to look 3 or 4 times before I even saw the fan. Maybe this ol caboy needs new glasses! Do like the flower in the beer bottle deal. I have cacti growing in the shop.

I've been eating spicy stuff for so long it may be that my vision is permanently hot-sauce affected.
