Kel-tec Plr-16 Pistol And Levange Muzzle Break

So because I dont have 2,000 posts that automatically makes me an idiot? I dont think so.

I dont care that the PLR16 isnt "meant to compete" with the practical guns of the world, I simply wanted to know what you would use one for that wouldnt be better done with a rifle.

hey, here's a thought
try walking down the street with a rifle down your pants and see if that doesn't get you arrested
you don't use a chainsaw to perform surgery
get with the program

and no, you're not automatically an idiot
you just work really hard at it, bravo

Kel-Tecs -- in my book at least -- are OK little guns. If all goes as planned, I'll be picking up my Kel-Tec .32 a few hours from now. OK, I'm weird, stupid, and/or ignorant of terminal ballistics, but I still have this thing for .32 pistols. In .32 ACP I have my little Beretta Tomcat (SWEET!!!), a pair of Walther PPs (SWEETER STILL!!!), an old, old Colt, and an old, old Ortgies, all of which I like very much. Might as well have a Kel-Tec, too, I figure. For anybody who plans to carry a baby Kel-Tec of any caliber in their pocket, though, PLEASE USE AN INSIDE-THE-POCKET HOLSTER so you don't bleed all over your britches! As for the .223 caliber Kel-Tec pistol, I have yet to figure out what one would be good for, except going deaf quickly. But if having a rifle with a super short barrel and no stock sounds fun to you, go for it. Whatever makes you happy and pisses off the gun-hating liberals is fine with me.

I work in a gun shop and there are 3 brands we will never carry; Kel-Tec, Hi-Point, and Bersa. I realize that they're inexpensive and alot of people give them good reviews, but you would be better off saving up a little extra money and buying something else.

I've had a Bersa for years, and never had any problems whatsoever with it. I've never met or spoken to anyone who owned one, that has ever had any malfunctions, and its one of my most accurate pistols.

Of course not. As a new poster, one builds the trust and respect of the community through your only method of communication: posting here.

My point was that you aren't off to a great start.

As far as experience and, for gawd sakes, "crying to you," I will base it on apparent credentials.

Massad Ayoob's bio, as cited in my earlier post:

Massad Ayoob has been a sworn police officer for more than 26 years, serving the last ten as a captain and prosecutor with a municipal department in Northern New Hampshire, and two years as co-vice chair of the forensic evidence committee of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. For more than a decade he has chaired the firearms/deadly force training committee of the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers. He has lectured repeatedly for the International Homicide Investigators’ Seminar and the International Association for the Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors. Named the Outstanding American Handgunner in 1998, Ayoob is the holder of multiple national, regional, and state combat handgun championship titles. Ayoob developed the StressFire combat shooting system that was adopted in the 80's by the United States Army as their course of instruction.

Ayoob is the author of “In the Graves Extreme: the Role of the Firearm in Personal Protection,” widely considered the authoritative text on judicious use of deadly force by private citizens. He has testified as an expert witness in numerous high profile homicide cases, including the defense of Officer Walter Budzyn in the Malice Green case..

As for the P3AT you can get a Glock G28 which is the same caliber 10 ounces heavier and and inch in each direction larger but not a piece of junk, plus you would carry 3 extra rounds in the clip. And at those dimensions you arent limited to .380 auto, you can get it in .40 (G27), .45 ACP (G30) & GAP (G39).

..uninformed..

Good of you to use that last word. Tried picking up Glock .380 in the States yet? Riiiiiiight.... not importable.

The real coup de grace... Dude, I OWN a Glock 30 (.45 ACP.) I love it! Amazing and reliable handgun. To compare it to the P3AT pocket pistol or, for that matter, even the dimensions of the .380 Glock, is... well... ..uninformed..

Your Google search engine won't replace real world experience in these matters. The P3AT is a tiny pocket pistol. The Glock 30 is a freaking brick with the dimensions of a piece of lumber.

BTW - 10 oz. is HUGE in the world of concealed carry firearms.

I think I'm done with this thread... you don't get it.

i have handled a glock .380 and have a keltech P32 (a little smaller than a P3AT but not much) and comparing the 2 is like apples/oranges, the keltech in either .32 or .380 is much smaller/thinner/lighter than the glock, albeit with a smaller mag capacity. & if i was gonna pack a glock that size why in the world would ya choose a .380 when in the same size pistol ya can get a 9MM/357SIG or .40???? imho the only reason ya would do that is because the 9MM and such arent allowed by law which is why the glock .380's even exist. also if i am gonna pack a sub compact 9MM or .40 it would be a kahr which is a lot easier to edc vs a glock due to its being thinner/lighter. for a edc pistol in a major calibre i dont think the poly frame kahrs can be topped ,they are every bit as accurate and reliable as glock in a easier to deal with daily package, they are so much easier to deal with i dont mind losing 3 or 4 rounds mag cap. but, before the days of poly frame kahrs i edc'd a glock 26/27 or 33 for probably 5 yrs or so, they are a good choice also.

i dont carry keltechs much anymore, i usually edc a kahr P9 or PM9, but the keltecs are far from junk, and also fairly cheap, and are imho a viable alternative for some folks who might not have much over $200 to spend on a pistol, sure i prefer glocks and kahrs to keltec but i do undertsand why someone would buy an inexpensive alternative to the glocks/SIGs/kahrs/etc of the world and a keltec isnt a bad choice.

Alright, you guys win. I can't compete because I am a Valet Attendant and therefore an idiot. I do have just one last comment/question that I wish to direct toward SIFU1A: Where do you live that you cant carry a 9mm? Even more according to everyone else you cant even get a Glock .380. I wouldnt know because I dont get my info from google, but I do know that where I live 9mm is acceptable.

In some countries, the 9mm is LEO. Thus, Glock produces the .380 pistol only to halfway fill the gap left by the 9mm. The .380 isn't sold in the US because, as was stated, it would be kinda goofy to carry a .380 in the exact same size package as a 9mm, .40, or .357SIG.

Very true. That's why it's not worth it to build an assembly in the U.S. for the G28.

As an overseas factory build, the .380 doesn't have enough BATF import points.

^^^ That's the official reason they don't import it, but if you call the factory asking about the .380, I can almost bet the word "goofy" will come up. :D

True!

I believe I heard the same thing as you: 9mm is a "war" or military cartridge, hence outlawed for civilian use in many Euro countries. Hence, production of the .380 for some of those "on the continent."

the glock 380s are marketed to countrys where certain calibres arent permitted for civilian ownership ie only police and military can possess them, ie mexico, 9MM, .45ACP, 7.62X39 and 5.56X45 cant be possessed by civilians. probably most folks cant own anything in mexico, but some countries arent that draconian, brazil, IIRC, is one of them, 9MM, .45 ACP/etc is not permitted but with proper licenses ya can have .380/.32, stuff like that.

i live in TX, by the way, and 9MM is fine here lol.

i dont get my info from google either.

point being the whole reason glock makes the .380's is to sell in such locales.

also i have nothing against parking lot attendants a man has to make a living somehow, doesnt he, matters none to me how a man makes a living, lol.

why does a gun have to be "good for anything" maybe its just fun to shoot?

the "gun hating liberals" are gonna be "gun hating liberals" irregardless of how many keltech rifles are sold, if it wasnt that it'd be something else.

and nope, i dont have one, nor anything like them, but i feel if ya want one ya should be able to get one.

do you disagree?
