Kel-Tec PMR-30 .22 Magnum

They're actually suspended production. 2 of them blew up.

I've handled one before, not too crazy about them. The grip is kind of funky. But, it would be a good close range coyote gun.

Just picked one of these up this morning after being on a number of waiting list for nearly a year. I ran a clip full thru it and was really impressed with it. Although I wish the caliber had been possibly a .38 due to you can't reload the .22MAG and the cartridges are comparable in price (Box of 50 CCI are around $10-12). I think this is a really nice shooter and the added capacity makes it a fine firearm although, it will not replace my Kimber Raptor in the clinch but, that's a whole different story between the two.

I got one about 3 months ago (also on a waiting list for over a year). Put about 300 hundred rounds through it so far, with 9 or 10 feeding failures, about 7 in the first 50 rounds. Not sure if the gun / clip needs more breaking in, or if the gun / clip isn't functioning properly. Overall I'm very happy with it, very fun to shoot.

I had a Bushmaster Carbon pistol AR14. 40 round mags, with the full house 5.56 Nato rounds out of a 7.5 inch barrel made for a huge fireball and a monster concussion blast! I sold it a while ago, so I need another blaster pistol.

(my .30 carbine pistol is blasty too, but not a high capacity).

If they release it in a .22 Long Rifle, it would be impossible to resist!

Looks like a neat little piece although might give a CO the wrong impression for a woods gun (though, if you're within the law I suppose impressions arent THAT important). I know the 22WMR is a favorite for varmit/small gamers but with 30rnds on hand what would you take be as a potential/ad hoc defensive weapon?

I recently got to handle and shoot one that belongs to a friend (he waited almost 8 months for his). Keltec did the best they could to make the grip comfortable, but it felt like i was holding a 2X2. The magazine loaded pretty easy until round #19, then it got a little tough, but not terribly so. The gun pointed well for me (though not comfortably due to the grip) and all controls were well with reach without altering my grip too much. The trigger was gritty and somewhat long, but in all fairness the gun had been fired only 50 rounds before we went out this time. The recoil and muzzle blast were noticable, but not terrible. It was loud though; I couldn't imagine lighting it off inside a house! My first 10 rounds went low but centered. Once I got the hang of the gun it was easy to keep rounds in the 9 and 10 ring at 25 feet (that big sight works well in lower light, but does get in the way for more precise work) slow fire. Quick fire drills were tougher; I just couldn't get the gun to center when brought up into firing position. The gun will climb noticibly during rapid fire because it doesn't weigh anything! I think as a lightweight hiking gun or a REALLY high capacity defensive gun it has merit. We had 7 malfunctions out of 300 rounds (we didn't clean it until later) of CCI Maxi Mag JHP, so it is fairly reliable. My range time with it was fun, but I won't be getting one - its a good gun but it doesn't fit me or my needs. YMMV.

I really want one, but won't pay the rape rates they are going for right now. I'll wait a year or two and then pick one up cheap.
