Kel Tec sub2000, my new carbine

Nice find. My brother in law and I are looking for the right project to build. He has done a few AR-15's and is a Marine. We still can't agree on what to do next.

I've got 3 AK kits waiting to be built...Hopefully this spring. If you guys are interested in AK builds I've got a coworker who has all the tooling for bending up receiver flats, etc. Maybe we could do a build party. After I get the AKs done, then I'll be thinking about an AR. Oh, BTW Matt, if you do build an AR, you HAVE to use a Jolly Roger receiver. The selector switch labels really make it.... :D

Today I went to a gun show and got the last few bits I needed to start reloading some .45 so I can get more pistol time in too. I've been away from the range for too long, and Sam's collecting is making me jealous! :)

I don't think i'll ever buy one unless I find one for 350$-400$, it just doesn't fit my mantra of guns I like, cheap-reliable-good rep-fun. In a battle rifle i'd go more towards an ak. they are cool as heck.

Man, I've been going the other direction. Winchester 30-30 lever, Remington over-under 12 gauge for clays, couple of black powder guns and a couple of .22 Marlins for woodchuck hunting

I have had one of those Sub 2000's in 9 mm for several years. I love mine too, it is fun to shoot and folds up compact.

It is also surprisingly accurate.

I am gonna get one in .40 cal to match up with my Glock 23.
The Sub 2000 is a sweet little gun for sure.

Teacher, I agree! here's an in post vid if the other link don't work

thanks teacher. I'm looking to score some bulk ammo so I can really go to town, I want to learn this gun inside and out so well it's just second nature to point and shoot.

Chuck my buddy sent me that link too, very good prices! I need some dough to come in, then i'll order a bunch.

Hey Sam!

Glad you finally found some time to give that carbine a test drive.

I'm tempted to pick one up in 9mm/Glock mag configuration, as a house/SHTF gun for my Wife, based on the reviews I've read, & the availability of ammo/mags to feed it. Given that it will also accept the G18's 33 round mags, it really makes things interesting (I know that little tidbit is irrelevant and sucks for you in Zoo York, but had to throw that out there...:D).

I don't want to take your thread too far off topic, but I'm always intrigued by the potential role of the take-down/folding carbine. After finding that you can reduce it to 16.1" in length, I figure the carbine, 10 mags, 500 rounds of 115 gr 9mm would fit into a gym bag weighing less than 20 lbs. Throw that, a Rubber Maid container with a REAL trauma kit, 50 lbs of dried rice/beans, cheap aluminum pot & a Jerry can of H2O and/or H2O purification system in the back of your vehicle and you're looking at a pretty sweet, albeit, minimalistic SHTF/Natural Disaster load out that will weigh in at less than 100 lbs.

Being that my Pop's side of the family is heavily Scot, I suppose I inherited a love of all things solidly made that sell at a reasonable price point.

Looks like you scored yourself a great little carbine, Sam. Congrats and thanks for sharing it with us!

Nice Sam, the recoil should be nil with that thing!

You guys are lucky buggers. Sam that is awesome.

No luck with that here with our draconian aussie gun laws.

Matt

Sorry Matt,
I was living in Bunbury, WA when they were doing the Government "Gun Buy Back" deal. Although If I had the choice to live anywhere in the world it would be Margaret River or Bunbury!

I don't know a lot about guns, just have my Savage .410/.22 but that gun is just baaaaad Sam, I want one!

Taylor, good info! I like your rundown of the bob contents for the vehicle. I get nervous in zoo york (I thank you :)) about the concept of a "truck gun" and should the situation arise my justification to a cop to having a rifle with a loaded magazine in a locked bag in my truck.

your lady I imagine would be quite comfortable and in a short time quite proficient with the s2k in 9mm.

Robert I saw that a couple days ago, amazing!!! I'd like to hope my eyes are that good now!
