im a newbie and was wondering if this is good for stock removal? ill be getting 1080 1/8 x 1 steel if i go with him. thanks

Kelly's 1080 & 1095 are great for stock removal. He is a great guy to deal with in my experience.

+1 on 1080 and Kelly Cupples. It's a great starter steel, and Kelly is a first rate guy. If I may suggest, go with the 1.25" or maybe a mix. I got some 1" and 1.25" and ran out of the wider stuff a lot quicker than the narrow.

This is good advice... unless you are sure all of your patterns will fit on 1" wide stock. I mostly go with a mix of 1/8" & 3/16" in 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" wide. All depends on what you plan on making I suppose.
