I normally read a lot, buy a little and post almost never on here, but I thought Id make an exception to that practice, since I wanted to say something nice about Ken at Artistic Cutlery Quest, a dealer for Snody knives.
I go into New York City pretty regularly. Not too long ago I came to discover that my usual EDC knives, either a Strider SMF or Terzuola folder, are now subject to confiscation and could make me a criminal if Im toting them around in the Big Apple thanks to an overly zealous DAs interpretation of existing law with respect to locking gravity knives. Also, Im told a visible knife pocket clip can get you charged with menacing in the city, but a sub 4 inch fixed blade knife carried discreetly in a pocket or waistband is totally legal. Go figure.
Anyway, so I decided to look for a decent fixed blade to carry when I venture into NYC. After a lot of poking around, I though a Snody BOSS seemed like a good choice. Yeah, I know Mike Snody is one of those love him or hate him characters, but regardless of how you feel about his antics on videos or the bling, you have to concede that he does make some great knives and has a real feel for functional cutlery design. That Economist folder of his is pretty sweet, but I digress
That leads me to this shout out for Ken at Artistic Cutlery Quest. He may be a young guy, but he can tell you just about anything you need or want to know about Snody and his knives. I think I spent about 90 minutes with him on the phone talking about Mike and his work and discussing some possible choices to meet my New York carry need and we ultimately confirmed my initial thinking on the perfectly sized BOSS being the way to go. Even better is the fact that Kens got the Snody knives to sell, and those can be a bit of a bitch to locate on short notice, so he was able to hook me up. . And, hes really easy to work with as to making the actual deal which was pretty sweet, I must say.
His website, artisticcutleryquest.com, is a work in progress right now, it seems, so leaves something to be desired until its fully up and running, but just contact him if youre in the market for anything Snody, and Ill bet theres a good chance hell either have it or be able to direct you where to get it. I think youll enjoy the customer service.
Take care.
